Yellowjackets News · Girls Swimming Kicks Off at the D.L. Pentathalon

The Yellowjacket Girls Swimmers had a great showing at their first meet of the season in Detroit Lakes on Monday, August 26th. The pentathlon format, where everyone swims a 50 of each stroke and a 100 IM, lends really well to introducing new swimmers to competition in a fun and low-risk fashion. After adding 9 new members to the team this season, this was a great way to start the season!
Our new swimmers are proving that they’re here to work hard and prove themselves. We also had several veterans who cut some big time from their times from last season. Senior Olivea McDonald and sophomore Irene Mursu both scored points for the team, and Mursu had a section qualifying time in the 50 free. Overall, we are very pleased with direction this season is headed!
Over the next week, we’ll be working on cleaning up some technique and ramping up our endurance training. Our next meet is in Fosston next Thursday, 9/5, at 5:30 PM.
