So the boys team came into the Lucky Lindy fresh off a big win at the Moorhead Twilight, but the biggest challenged that every team faced was not each other, but the weather. The meet started with the Junior High races cancelled. The first race of the day was the boys JV which started, but due to thunder and lightening was stopped 800 meters in. All the runners reported back to the bus where we waited for 45 min. Meet officials decided to combine the all the races with girls staggered just 2 minutes behind the boys. The JV runners joined the varsity boys in one of the most memorable Lucky Lindy’s ever.
The Perham boys running without #1 runner Brandon O’Hara who is recovering from a 12 hour stomach bug stepped up big. The boys ran away with the team title lead by sophomore Jakob McCleary finishing 5th overall (16:27) in deep individual field with 4 of the top runners in class A. Second on the team was senior Bailey Evenson finishing 8th overall running a 16:53. Tesfaye Young (14th), Chase Belka (16th), and Carson Hespe (26th), Owen Werner (27th) and Elijah Morris (60th) rounded out the varsity line-up.
The JV boys finished 3rd overall with 94 points behind Moorhead and St. Cloud Cathedral. Jack Anderson was the Individual JV Champion.
